This package is nice because it not only affords you an opportunity to support independent comics as a medium, it also entitles you to a swell collection of special gifts.

- One full color crayon sketch of the character of your choice.  Pick any character you like (mine or otherwise) and I will do a speed sketch for you. This package is for the comics fan who not only wants to show their support and get a little extra swag that they can share with their friends, but also wants to get their hands on a one-of-a-kind conversation piece in the process.  You see… when I produce the strips for Neutron City Comix, I arrange all the hand-drawn pieces in the computer and print out a black and white line-art copy which I then hand-color.  This package comes with all the stuff from the Cadet Package but you’ll ALSO get a SIGNED and FRAMED, Hand-Colored Production Copy of a Neutron City Comix strip.

#5. Executive Producer Package
This package is aimed at those who wish to become VERY involved in the Neutron City Comix “Machine.”  This year my brother and I will be shooting footage to be used as a pitch reel/pilot for a documentary series I am creating about the Geek Culture as it pertains to the arena of Comic Book Conventions.  “Get Your GEEK On!!” will document our experience from road trips and convention appearances to interviews with geek culture celebrities; from comic artists and movie stars to cosplayers and convention attendees.  When you purchase this package, you become a part of the team.  Your money goes toward the printing of surplus issues of the comics to sell at the conventions as well as helping to fund the trips to the conventions and the documentary process.  Along with all the other cool swag, you’ll get credit as an Executive Producer in the front of BOTH comic books as well as on the “Get Your GEEK On!!” pitch reel/pilot.  You will also receive extra copies of the comic so you can give them out to your friends.

#6. Master Of The Universe Package
This package is identical to the Executive Producer Package except for two major things.
1) It is way more expensive.
2) You get TWICE as many copies of the comics AND…  I will not only credit you as an Executive Producer in the comics and on the documentary, you will also be immortalized in toon portraiture on the inside front cover of both comics.  You also get to pick out a megalomaniacal title for yourself (Within reason. Nothing questionable. This IS an all-ages comic, after all).  The text will read something like:  “This comic was made possible due largely to the efforts of John Smallberries: Master Of The Universe”
That’s right, you choose your own title!  You paid for it!!  Other examples of acceptable titles could be: “Conqueror Of The Galaxy”, “Lord Of All That Is Totally Rad”, or even “Awesomest At Basketball.”
You will also get the ORIGINAL ART of your portrait. (Signed and Framed)
Includes:
- TWENTY copies each of Neutron City Comix #1 AND #2 (Signed)

Oh boy, did this movie stink!!  I hate when comics movies fall short of how awesome they could be.  Such was the case with Green Lantern.  Ryan Reynolds might have been perfect for that role if they were doing a Kyle Rayner Green Lantern movie, but he is no Hal Jordan.  The special effects looked very cool but the story was super-clunky and terribly boring.  The script was uncomfortably predictable with the exception of the involvement of Sinestro.  I would never have predicted that they would bother to include, and get such a great actor like Mark Strong to play, a character that has almost nothing to do with the story and is really only in the film so they could set up a sequel; a sequel which I really hope they never bother to make.  I suppose you might enjoy this movie if you are a die hard GL fan, or if you’ve suffered severe brain damage in the recent past.  Otherwise just say, “NO.”

Just a quick Neutron City Comix update: The next 4 strips are currently in various stages of production.  Two of them are written and ready for art and another two still need finished scripts.  I also have to prepare for C2E2 in a couple of weeks so I’m not sure how soon I’ll be able to get a new strip out but I wanted to assure you that they are, in fact, coming.  I also have a whole bunch of ideas for future story lines and joke strips so we shouldn’t be running out of material any tome soon.  I just have to budget the time to do the actual work.  I’m getting a little antsy in my pantsies.

I’m gonna try to give you the short version so as not to bore you to death.

Ok, A while back I met an artist at Wizard World Chicago named Katie Cook.  She’s amazing.  She’s a total nerd, she loves Star Wars and all the other geek stuff, she’s an incredibly talented artist and she’s very funny.  (Relax, boys.  She’s married.)  Do yourself a favor and go here and check her out.

She is doing a webcomic called “Gronk – A Monster’s Story”.  Last year while I was making a batch of Box Monsters, I made her a little Gronk out of clay.

At the time she had yet to start the actual webcomic.  Now that she’s started, I thought I’d do another piece of fan-art for her.  The original idea was to have Gronk sitting on a log, looking bummed, and being consoled by Kermit The Frog.  Then I thought, “You know what? Katie also really likes The Hulk and he’s green, too.”  Then when I started sketching it out I thought, “Hey, Katie also likes Star Wars and Yoda’s green as well!”  It just sort of spiraled out of control from there.  Enjoy.

I have lived in Nashville, Tennessee for most of my life and while it’s not my favorite place in the world, it is most certainly my home.  This weekend, the city of Nashville fell victim to some real “Wrath Of God” type stuff.  The whole effin’ city flooded. And not just a little flooding either.  Nope.  The Cumberland river at Riverfront Park was up 50 FEET.  All of 1st Avenue was submerged.  I had a river running down my driveway (taking every bit of the gravel with it) and a lake where my front yard once was.  It almost seemed like it wasn’t going to stop.  For me, luckily, the waters stopped rising before making it inside my home.  Not everyone in town was so lucky.

It’s surreal to see all this stuff as it’s happening, to receive phone calls from friends describing the utter devastation going on all around them and turning on the TV to find…  NOTHING.  Aside from local news outlets doing what they can to keep everyone locally informed, there was absolutely nothing on TV about it at all.  There was simply NO national coverage.  Unless you lived here there was no way for anyone to know.  I scoured the computernet looking for any mention of what was happening and all I found was news about the oil spill, the NY car bombing failure and some stupid teenage schmuck getting shot by a taser at a baseball game.  I can understand the oil spill and the car bombing attempt taking up a good part of the news cycle, but the taser schmuck?  I don’t see how that is somehow more newsworthy than a metropolitan city sinking in a flood.

Keith Olberman finally said something as did John Stewart.  Is that not something we should worry about?  Listen, I love both Stewart and Olberman and have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for what they do but I think it’s a little messed up that the “court jesters” of the news are the first ones to draw national attention to a natural disaster.  CNN, you’ve failed us.  You guys really dropped the ball on this one.

I’m not mad, I’m just really disappointed.
